OUR STORY

Established in 1954, Bar Esperia was the first family bakery
founded by Dario Vullo’s grandfather in Sicily.

From Sicily through Northern and Central Italy, the Vullo family manifested their start in the food and restaurant business first with generations of the family bringing love and passion to their local cuisine. Chef Alessio parachuted himself into the Chicago food scene about 14 years ago by joining his brother Dario in the first US venture, creating the original Nando Milano Trattoria in the neighborhood of Wicker Park.

Our Mission

At Nando our mission is to provide a sense of community and to establish long lasting relationships where guests become friends…through Italian cuisine!

Dario Vullo eventually brought his family's legacy to the United States intent to share the great traditions of food in Italy with the help of his Brother, Alessio. With passion for the Italian way of life, Dario and Alessio want to share this unique dining experience no matter the location.
